Quilt Restoration Workshops: Supply List
Beginning Quilt Restoration Workshop
This will be a hands-on workshop.
Please bring a basic sewing kit including:
- Sharps size 11, Betweens size 10 and 12
- Sewing thread and quilting thread in ecru (100% cotton)
- Scissors for fabrics and thread
- Scissors for paper and plastic
- Thimble
Optional:
- Ott-lite or similar if needed
- Magnifier if needed
- Pencil and notebook for note taking (pens not allowed)
- Camera
Also bring a quilt in need of restoration to use the first afternoon. You will not actually sew on this quilt in class. We will discuss each student's quilt and make a restoration plan for it.
For the second morning, bring tops, blocks, quilts or fabric you would like to date.
Advanced Quilt Restoration Workshop
Bring a basic sewing kit as described above.
Also recommended:
- An Ott Light
- Magnifier if you need one for close work
- Notebook and pencil (no pens are allowed)
- Camera
Your class fee includes sample fabrics to work with, a small piece of crepeline and archival fusible and size 140 cotton thread. You will not need to purchase anything extra to complete the workshop. Additional supplies available for purchase to take home and work on your own.
Bring a crazy quilt or other quilt with difficult restoration issues for the triage session the first afternoon.
